‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) may have killed the real Mitch Bacall and stolen his identity.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Howarth Admits Matt Believes He’s Really Mitch
There may be a disturbing twist involved with Matt’s so-called “fresh start” with his wife, Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun). Clark, of course, is Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) old rival from Genoa City.

Matt raped Sharon and set Nick up for murder. It’s not hard to imagine that Matt killed Mitch Bacall and likely had some help from his shady accomplice, Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen).
We suspect the Mitch person may have p***ed Matt off at some point, and he decided to make sure he paid the price.
That said, Howarth recently stated in an interview with Soap Opera Digest,
“Matt truly believes this in some way. If a person is pretending to be another person, they know everything about that person.”
He continued,
“Matt, on some level, believes in the life that he has been living all these years as Mitch. This leads one to believe that Matt believes he’s Mitch.”
Obviously, Matt took over someone’s life. It could soon be revealed that Matt has killed an innocent man, and he’s taken over his life.
It’s highly possible that Mitch somewhat resembled Matt, and he offed the poor guy. Regardless, Matt may not be on the soap for very long. Roger Howarth is only on the show for a short-term role, which is a shame.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Roger Howarth Deserves Better Than Matt Clark
Howarth is a very talented and gifted actor, and Y&R should have had the good sense to keep him on long-term. We suspect that eventually someone will find out the lengths to which Matt has gone to hide his past.
Not to mention, his history with the Newman family, and he may end up in jail, or Nick or Sharon will kill him.

In the Y&R previews for next week, it looks like Matt and the detective kidnap Noah and Sienna and stash them somewhere.
It’s also evident that he ran Noah off the road with the intention of killing him. He’s a dangerous guy, and Jos Griffith has an obsession with reviving a random villain whenever he gets bored.
We’re really bummed that Howarth is only on the show for a limited time. Even during his scenes with Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) in the November 14th episode, it was easy to root for him. That’s how gifted an actor Roger Howarth is.
Noah is having an affair with Sienna behind Matt’s back. Howarth brought a raw vulnerability to Matt in the scenes where he told Noah that he knew about the affair between him and his wife.
We also know that Sienna will move to Genoa City with Noah. In the end, we predict that Matt Clark will face prison or death.

The character has obviously committed some heinous acts. However, Howarth brings nuance and a new dimension to the character we didn’t see when other actors played him.
If we’re lucky, Roger Howarth returns to Y&R as another character, as he did on General Hospital, playing Todd Manning, Franco Baldwin, and finally Austin Gatlin-Holt.
