‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that with the Derek Chauvin trial finishing up as the world watches, our soap operas have been pushed and we got an older episode showcasing Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and her history.
Going back decades, we got to see clips of her going through several stages of her life, including meeting Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), her life as a stripper, joining a cult, all her past marriages and even how she killed. It was eye opening for someone who hasn’t been watching soap operas their whole life and made me upset with the writing we get now.

Lately the most excitement we’ve gotten is the current situation with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) having a love child with Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) wife Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner). We should get stories like they used to do! I want cults in today’s episode! Get Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) indoctrinated into a cult while reeling from her “love” with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)!
It’s been a minute since we’ve had a murder as well! Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) was poisoned recently, but nothing serious. Plus, we found out that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) had killed Alyssa Montalvo’s (Maria DiDomenic) father when he was a child, but that was decades ago!
A lot of viewers and fans have been calling for better writing for years, and I can see why! It’s nothing compared to what it used to be! What would you want to see in an episode today? Cult? Murder? Strip clubs?
