‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra, dishes on whether Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sally can rekindle their love story.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Sally Lost Trust In Adam
Courtney Hope told Soap Opera Digest that when it comes to Adam and Sally, it’s like Billy Joel would say, it’s “A Matter of Trust.”
Sally lost trust in Adam after he lied to her face about cheating on her with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). It wasn’t so much the fact that they slept together but that he was too much of a coward to tell her the truth.
Sally had to find out from Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who was in a relationship with Chelsea at the time, and Sally and Billy bonded over the betrayal and started dating each other.
Hope explained,
“I think when the rug was pulled out from under her, it really shifted her perspective on Adam.” However, that doesn’t mean that Sally doesn’t still play the “what if” game about her past relationship with Adam.
In the April 1st episode of Y&R, Sally and Adam ran into each other at Society, and she admitted she sometimes wondered what would have happened if she made different decisions.
“I think she still cares about Adam,”
Hope observed.
“I think that there will be love there, but I think that more than anything, it’s a boundary and a will that she has to have for herself not to fall for him again because she was disrespected,”
Hope noted.
In the episode, Adam felt he should tell Sally that he and Chelsea were back together, which didn’t surprise Sally. Adam and Sally told each other they were happy with their respective partners, but there was still unfinished chemistry between them.

The pair were relaxed and cordial with each other, but we have to wonder if their so-called contentment with other people is all an act.
We believe that Adam and Chelsea’s connection is mostly about Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). On that fateful night in Baltimore, Adam and Cheslea’s fear for their son led them into bed together. It’s the bond of their family with Conner that has them living at the Newman Ranch now.
Sally went through heartbreak when her baby with Adam died from complications during pregnancy. Adam chose to save Sally, which left Sally devastated.
Sally may often wonder if their daughter, Ava, had lived, whether she and Adam would still be together. Perhaps Adam feels the same way.
Adam isn’t so convinced Sally is truly happy with Billy. Neither are we. While Adam and Sally were talking, Chelsea told Billy she had reunited with Adam, and he had a massive fit over it and told Chelsea she was making a mistake.
We suspect this could foreshadow another couple switch at some point. Adam and Sally still feel like the endgame couple to us.
Hope summed up Sally’s new attitude thanks to Adam’s betrayal,
“You can care about someone and love someone, but when they take advantage of you and disrespect you in that way, have to turn the page.”
