‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers admit this is a bit of a ‘Y&R’ and ‘General Hospital’ spoiler. Kelly Monaco is set to exit GH sometime this fall.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Mackenzie Is Katherine’s Granddaughter
We all thought Sam would be paired with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) when he returned to the GH canvas. Still, despite being in the promo to announce his return, the show opted instead to change Sam and make her suddenly afraid of Jason’s lifestyle.
Kelly has been disregarded and underused for years on GH. She deserves a chance to shine, and it would be wonderful to see her on a show that values her talent.
Soap fans wonder if Monaco could move to Genoa City and be paired up with Jason Thompson, her former leading man on GH, who now plays Billy Abbott on Y&R.
When Thompson was on GH, his character, Patrick Drake, was in a relationship with the pretty private investigator, Sam McCall, and they had impeccable chemistry.
Billy, who may be looking for a new romance since Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) cheated on him with his nemesis, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), could easily find love again with Mackenzie Browning (last played by Kelly Kruger). That’s where Monaco could step in.
Sometimes, it’s difficult for an actor to come on a soap and play an entirely new character. Soap fans can be brutal. Mackenzie Browning already has family ties galore. She’s the granddaughter of Genoa City’s legendary matriarch Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper).
“Mac,” as everybody called her, was fiery and a spitfire, not at all unlike Sam McCall. She and Billy had an epic teenage romance, and there’s nothing wrong with revisiting that, considering that Chelsea was unfaithful.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Mac Could Help Billy Stop Victor From Acquiring Abbott-Chancellor
Mac could come in during the Chancellor-Abbott debacle and align herself with Billy. She could help him stop Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) from acquiring the company.
Monaco would be a breath of fresh air for the soap, as it could use an MVP from a rival soap to spice things up. We already know Monaco and Thompson are a good fit, and many fans miss Mac, so that it would be a win-win.
Plus, how could Billy ever trust Chelsea after she slept with Adam? Another chance with Mac could be just what Billy needs.
Plus, imagine her interaction with the other key players on the show. Y&R is a show with a rich history.
Monaco could easily play alongside Y&R’s veteran actors, like Jess Walton, who plays Jill Abbott; Melody Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki Newman; and Amelia Heinle, who plays Victoria Newman.
Mac already has connections in Genoa City; her presence would be the perfect excuse to unite these characters.
If Mackenzie isn’t possible, Monaco could play the new woman in Billy’s life. They could meet at Society, and he could buy her a drink, and the two could hit it off.
The powers that be at Y&R better snatch Monaco up before another soap (like DOOL?) does. Monaco has a legion of fans who would gladly follow her to whichever soap she goes next.
