‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers document that Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) believes Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) is the only person Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) cares about. Meanwhile, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) thinks Ashley is the one person who has influenced Tucker.
Of course, only Tucker knows who will affect him and how much. But based on history and recent events, Ashley and Billy are partially right. Tucker sees Ashley as the spurned love of his life and Devon as the son whose approval he craves.

She may not admit it to others, but Ashley is still in love with Tucker and may always be. Yes, she is reeling after the brutal verbal fight they had in Paris, France. But her heart still holds the most space for the man who is seeking an annulment.
The audience has been provided with a series of flashbacks that fill in backstory gaps regarding what happened during the honeymoon. It is unusual to present plot details that occurred off-screen and were initially referenced in dialogue.
Possibly, one or both actors were unavailable immediately after Ashley and Tucker’s remarriage was shot. But if that was not the case, fans are right to wonder why this particular sequencing is being presented, with Ashley sporadically recalling what happened and the fans gaining information in bits and pieces.

Devon’s broken relationship with his biological mother appears to be influencing his feelings about his biological father. Devoted viewers recall that Devon considers the late Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) to be the only legitimate father figure in his life.
Yolanda Harmony Hamilton (Chene Lawson) returned earlier this year to Genoa City, Wisconsin. That happened because Tucker made contact with her and ensured she would be present for the dedication of the jazz lounge that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) created to honor Kristoff St. John’s character. Devon was surprised and deeply touched as a result.
So, Devon chooses to focus on Tucker’s misdeeds instead of the good deeds. He does so as a form of protection based on his childhood with his birth mother and Tucker’s absence during that period. Devon is nursing old wounds and has convinced himself that Tucker will only create new ones.

With all of the above said Tucker’s behavior in Paris was reprehensible. He acted with such cruelty that anyone would have recoiled. Ashley, like Devon, is in protection mode now.
After returning home last year, he achieved a remarriage with Ashley and a new relationship with Devon. But Tucker has not been able to sustain success because he does not have the emotional capacity to do so.
The circular problem is that Tucker needs Ashley and Devon’s help to gain emotional maturity. However, he repeatedly alienates both people because of said behavior. So, until or if Ashley and Devon are willing to risk their stability, Tucker is unlikely to mature on Y&R.
