Playing a handsome, rugged, intelligent and sexy detective in a city full of beautiful people might be no walk in the park but for this actor, it’s all in a day’s work. As a matter of fact, The Young and the Restless star Jordi Vilasuso opens up about playing detective Rey Rosales on the hit CBS soap. Here’s what you need to know.

The Young and the Restless News: Jordi Vilasuso Opens Up About Playing Rey

Speaking to Soaps in Depth, Jordi, who many fans remember as Tony Santos from Guiding Light, says that his stint in Genoa City has been very exciting so far. In fact, he points out that this is the first time that he’s ever played a police detective on a soap and is loving every second of it. With that being said, there are many different sides to Rey that Jordi tries to bring out in front of the cameras.

“I’m over the moon to be on this show,” he admitted to Soaps In Depth. “It’s been very exciting. Careerwise, this is the first time I’ve played a cop on a soap. I feel Rey has this heroic quality to him. He has a very strong moral compass and an integrity that I try to live by in my own life. But he’s human, too, and there are going to be times when he falls down as he navigates obstacles and challenges.”

Needless to say, it’s been one very wild ride for Rey. For months now he’s been trying to find out who killed JT and has fallen in love with Sharon. What’s more, he’s dealing with his estranged wife Mia trying to get back with him.

Jordi adds, “Rey has a lot of difficulties. But… if he didn’t have anything to deal with, then you are going to go along with nothing but that heroic quality! And that would be boring!”
