The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Phyllis isn’t the most popular person in Genoa City right now. After she threw the other ladies under the bus, she’s now fighting for her own life and her reputation. According to her portrayer, Gina Tognoni, it hasn’t been easy. As a matter of fact, she admits that Phyllis is a complicated character that keeps Gina on her toes!
The Young and the Restless News: Gina Tognoni Admits To Being Challenged By Phyllis
When asked how she feels about playing Phyllis, Gina told Soap Opera Digest in an interview, “You gotta pay attention to her core personality. I always have to remind myself of that because when you go through so many changes in head writing sometimes those things can be undefined, so it’s up to the actor to continue to remind as much as he or she can as to what that character is about. This has not been easy. This has not been a cakewalk. And the fact that people accepted me and thought that it was a good thing I’m very, very grateful for, ’cause it’s not something I walked in and did, I had to think about it. Definitely challenging.”

If that weren’t enough, Gina also says that it’s been quite a challenge having to fly back and forth from her home base to Los Angeles to film episodes of The Young and the Restless. But seeing how much she loves her job, Gina is not complaining. Every second is worth it, even if it gets tiring!
She added, “I fly so much. I fly back home a lot. You know, it was necessary. I needed to do this. It has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. It has also brought me back to why I got into this in the first place. I do love what I do. I love the art of expression. This place keeps me honest about why I do this. I’m in such a loving environment. It is not a mean environment. I’m just so thankful. I really am.”
