The second season of Meghan Markle’s docuseries, “With Love, Meghan,” is set to premiere next week. Unfortunately for the Duchess, Meghan failed to attract A-list guests to appear on her show.
Meghan Markle’s List Of Guests is “Just A Bunch Of Random People She Knows.”
In the first season, Meghan’s biggest guest was comedian Mindy Kaling, from “The Office.” The only major celebrity Meghan managed to book for her next season is Chrissy Teigen, the wife of singer John Legend.
Most of Meghan Markle’s guests are associated with WME, which is the talent agency that represents her. Royal fans took note, and an inside source described her list of guests as “just a bunch of random people she knows.”
It’s a long way away for Meghan from her splashy May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Harry and Meghan’s wedding guests included notable figures like Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Elton John, James Corden, David and Victoria Beckham, and George and Amal Clooney.
She also invited the cast of Suits to the ceremony. The list of famous people who attended the event was extensive. Seven years later, most of these people are nowhere to be found in Meghan’s orbit.
The attraction toward Meghan then? Her newfound place in the royal family. When a celebrity or another well-known name is invited to a royal family event, you can be damn sure they will show up.
Harry’s Princess Diana Documentary Coincides With The 30th Anniversary Of Her Death.
The royal family is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions, and Harry and Meghan’s nuptials were the royal event of the season in the spring of 2018.
Hollywood has lost interest in the Sussexes since they moved down from their positions within the royal family. It’s not exactly ideal for Meghan, who has desperately tried to carve out a career in the industry for herself.
Aside from Mindy Kaling and Chrissy Teigen, Meghan’s guest list for “With Love, Meghan” is mind-bogglingly pathetic. It will likely result in Harry and Meghan being downgraded on the streaming platform even further.
The only potential saving grace for Harry and Meghan’s new first-look deal with Netflix is an upcoming Princess Diana documentary Harry is planning to coincide with the 30th anniversary of her death.
Sadly, Harry was only twelve years old when his mother was killed in a car accident in Paris in late August 1997. The story of Princess Diana is both moving and tragic, and it will likely garner a ratings win for Netflix.
The trauma of losing his mother is immense and forever present. In his tell-all memoir, “Spare,” Harry wrote about how he felt walking behind her coffin with his brother, Prince William, during the funeral procession.
The Couple has produced A Sequence Of Flops
Harry and Meghan have struggled to find their footing on the platform after the success of their docuseries about their relationship and subsequent departure from the royal family, “Harry and Meghan.”
The success of their first offering, “Harry and Meghan,” was undeniable. However, since then, the couple has produced nothing but a sequence of massive flops.
Harry and Meghan have not produced any highly-rated programming since their first docuseries. Netflix certainly wouldn’t be able to justify another $100 million deal with the Sussexes as they did in September 2020.
The pair were recently offered a new multi-year first-look deal, essentially a “don’t call us, we’ll call you” arrangement. That said, the second season of “With Love, Meghan” premieres on August 26th.
Since they don’t bring in any A-list talent, Harry and Meghan are worth considerably less. That may sound harsh, but this is business for Netflix, and in the end, it’s all about the money.
PR expert Mark Borkowski recently explained the new terms to the Daily Mail,
“I think Netflix has done an impeccable job of pivoting away from two costly people who didn’t deliver, and they’ve taken that deal off the table, and they’ve given them a modest one.”
