British Royal Family News is asking if this could be any more of a tone-deaf headline? There’s a new post by The Guardian in the UK that says Kate Middleton has had such a good lockdown that the Duchess of Cambridge’s stock is rising in the media. The article goes on to say that all of the drama of Megxit and the national crisis that is the coronavirus pandemic have seen Kate adorn UK newspapers, magazines, and TV screens. While the lockdown has been good news for the Duchess of Cambridge, it hasn’t been good for the average person. With millions infected, hundreds and thousands of lives lost, millions losing their jobs, a battered economy and protests taking place in dozens of U.S. and European cities, these last few months have been anything but ‘good.’ Here’s what you need to know.
Caroline Davies of The Guardian says that Kate Middleton hasn’t seen this much popularity since, ever. And to add even more insult to injury, she goes on to make some rather odd comparisons with the way Kate Middleton has been viewed during the coronavirus lockdown to that of her estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

Davies writes, “Here again, Kate has been pronounced the queen of lockdown fashion. The UK website LoveTheSales.com recently declared that outfits worn by Kate had increased fashion searches by 86% since March. Meghan’s, by contrast, generated a 35% increase. Furthermore, 14 of the 16 outfits Kate has worn have sold out, compared with only one of Meghan’s six. It may seem uncontroversial as Kate, propelled by palace and government official apparatus, has been doing her day job, while Meghan, now without such support, has been seen far less in public.”
As if what Kate Middleton is wearing is really on the forefront of anyone’s mind right now. Of course, it didn’t take very long for royal fans to slam this rather bizarre post from The Guardian. Many took to social media to write comments such as, “Over 30,000 dead. Why do I care what a rich entitled royal is living it up during lockdown on my dime? The tone deafness is unbelievable.”
Another fan added rather sarcastically, “Oh thank goodness! I was so worried that maybe she had a lackluster lockdown! Thank God she had a wonderful time. That’s so important to the world right now.” And then there was this, “Making a few Zoom calls allied with fawning puff pieces. Who knew sitting in your sofa, seeing another charity close and threatening to sue a palace sanctioned Tatler article would be greeted with such effusive praise.”
