Even though she’s one of the most confident stars in the entertainment industry, who has found a lot of success thanks to her role as Princess Diana on “The Crown” Emma Corrin says coming out as queer has been quite a “scary” experience.
Just last month, the actress posted several photos of herself with a chest binder on Instagram, while announcing that she is queer. Here’s what she has to say.
In a new interview with ITV Granada Reports, the 25-year-old British-born star discussed how she felt before she came out to the world.
The Crown Star Emma Corrin Says Her Coming Out Was ‘Scary’
She said, “My journey has been a long one and has still got a long way to go. I think we are so used to defining ourselves and that’s the way society works within these binaries and it’s taken me a long time to realise that I exist somewhere in between and I’m still not sure where that is yet.”
Emma also made it no secret that she was scared to tell the world her truth.
She added, “I wasn’t sure whether it was the right thing to do but the feedback from the people in the queer community has been wonderful. There’s no fixed identity, especially for, like, people in the queer community. It’s going to be an ongoing journey but yeah, I hope that sharing helps people. First time addressing my queerness and my journey on TV was scary! But visibility is key.”
