Netflix ‘The Crown’ Season 4 spoilers say that many of the show’s stars are criticizing the ‘royal hate campaign’ against the Netflix series. This comes after the UK government’s Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden had called on Netflix to add a disclaimer to the series just so it can emphasize that it’s a work of fiction.
According to the LA Times, Josh O’Connor, who plays Prince Charles on the hit Netflix series, said that he was incredibly disappointed to see so many people slam the series, especially when it’s their job to help promote British culture.

He said, “We were slightly let down by our culture secretary, whose job it is to encourage culture. In my opinion, it’s pretty outrageous that he came out and said what he said. Particularly in this time when he knows that the arts are struggling and they’re on their knees, I think it’s a bit of a low blow.”
Josh also made it clear that he too rejects the idea of a proposed disclaimer for the series. Some critics believe that a disclaimer should be made in order to let viewers know that they are not watching a documentary.
“My personal view is that audiences understand,” he said. “You have to show them the respect and understand that they’re intelligent enough to see it for what it is, which is pure fiction.”
In an interview with Variety, Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana, echoes Josh’s same sentiments. “This is fictitious in the same way people don’t mistake ‘Succession’ for what actually happened with the Murdochs.” Even so, Corrin says, “I also understand [the request] comes from a place of sensitivity and protectiveness of the royal family and Diana.”
