Meanwhile, across town at University Hospital, Xander Avant (Adain Bradley) just happened to have John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) become his doctor.
The odds of that incident being realized on the other side of the screen are long. But in this soapy world, that encounter needed to happen.
When Xander learned Finn was married to Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), he went for Thomas’ jugular. Referencing Emma Barber’s (Nia Sioux) death as a murder during their first meeting, it feels like the plot is being forcibly pushed.

Hope never expected Thomas to propose marriage. The audience is assuming she will turn him down. Doing so gently is probable because Hope wants to see where this unexpected bond might lead.
However, Hope must admit that Steffy’s recent hard questions and Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) softer perspective make sense now. Hope did not realize it, but she led Thomas to believe marriage was imminently possible.
Combine the above with Finn’s likely relay of the information Xander provided, and Thomas’ world could be crashing soon on B&B.
