‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers document that the many retrospective scenes that were shown in recent weeks implied a cast exit. But those flashbacks also indicated an epic cast return.
As readers of this comprehensive soap site saw nearly two weeks ago, the great Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester) appeared in new scenes. One of this opera’s legendary cast members retired in 2012, and her character died.
Eric Forrester (John McCook) nearly died on the operating table. But John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and Eric’s daughter, Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones), saved his life while performing an experimental transplant. Then, shortly after, while he was still unconscious, Stephanie appeared.
However, until follow-up scenes offer additional clarification, Stephanie’s comments could be interpreted as telling Eric to wait to join her.
‘Bold And The Beautiful’ Spoilers – Not Stephanie Forrester’s First Comeback
Flannery reprised her role five years ago when Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) were getting remarried at the Forrester mansion. Brooke could hear Stephanie’s biting wit and her version of a blessing.
This comeback is serious, with Stephanie appearing to Eric because he was and remains near death. Finn told Bridget that the operation was successful, as hoped, but McCook’s character has a rough road ahead of recovery.
Finn cautioned Eric’s loved ones to remain vigilant and reinforced that danger exists in the days ahead.
‘Bold And The Beautiful’ Spoilers – Ridge Forrester Influenced By The Moment
It was brilliant to write a connected conflict into this storyline. Rather than simply having Eric’s touchy situation serve as the main tale, the writing staff positioned Ridge as the heavy.
Kaye’s character felt he was protecting his father’s interests when rejecting Finn’s transplant proposal. Within hours of Eric’s collapse at the Forrester mansion, Ridge wanted the machines that were keeping him alive to be turned off.
He faced outrage from nearly everyone waiting in the hallway outside Eric’s room. Brooke backed Ridge but was as surprised as the others that he did not let Finn try to save Eric.
Then, just as Finn was about to press a stark red button that was the literal kill switch, Eric’s eyes moved. The crowd took that as a sign that he did not want to die. Ridge was persuaded as well and gave Finn the go-ahead.
‘Bold And The Beautiful’ Spoilers – Eric Forrester Makes Final Call
What a great storyline this has been to date. The build, first collapse, second collapse, emergency operation, and then topping it off, Flannery appears.
Memorable stories are told when sharp scripts combine with solid performances. Add in a surprise and the inability of anyone to honestly know what comes next. No matter the outcome in the coming days or the ones that follow into the next year, kudos to all involved at B&B.
