Anty Horgan, who is best known for being in the hit band ‘The Bennies’, has caused some controversy after he admitted to performing his music at an anti-vax mandate rally in Australia.

According to reports, Anty had performed at an event that was attended by none other than Australian Senator Pauline Hanson.

The latter had introduced a discrimination bill within parliament, which had the aim of removing any restrictions that would be imposed on unvaccinated people by virtue of their covid status.

But given that this bill would end up being defeated, a lot of people wanted to know why Anty was there.  And by the looks of it, his performance resonated very well.

In the video here, we can see that Anty is in full swing as the crowd bounces around to his music. And yet, not everybody was satisfied with his appearance.

A significant proportion of people believed that his attendance was dangerous in light of the plethora of groups that were in attendance and the respective views that they were promoting.

In the series of pictures here, we can see a numerous political affiliations, including supporters of Donald Trump and anti-vaxers.

Despite the popularity of his performance, Anty came out to distance himself from the crowd. In fact, it looks as though he regretted the whole thing.

It is not clear whether his statement was in order to preserve his reputation, but regardless, it does end up throwing an egg in the face of all those who had welcomed his appearance.

In a post to his fans on Instagram, Anty remarked: “I am not a racist or a nazi. In fact, I condemn Pauline Hanson and one nation [sic]. Fuck racism, fuck fascism, fuck Pauline Hanson…I condemn it all.”

We do not know if this is going to have any repercussions for Anty and his public profile, but what it does show is that stars should think twice before they get involved in any political activity.

After all, we are living through a time where cancel culture can end the careers of just about anyone. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
