‘The Amazing Race’ spoilers find that fans were very much looking forward to seeing how The Amazing Race would look in a post (or current) pandemic world, but they didn’t expect to see only 5 of the original racing teams return.

Connie Greiner and Sam Greiner, the married couple from North Carolina were one of four pairs who did not return to the Race when it resumed filming last September.

And they have a pretty darn good reason for not resuming the race around the world.

Connie and Sam had a baby!

‘The Amazing Race’ Spoilers: The Tiny But Huge Reason Connie & Sam Greiner Didn’t Return To The Competition

Like thousands of couples in lockdown, Connie and Sam conceived a child. Connie was 6 months pregnant when the remaining teams assembled at the (re)starting line in Switzerland.

In December the couple who have been married for 8 years welcomed their son, Elijah into the world.

Elijah is the third child of the Greiners, their first son. Their daughters are 9 year old Charli and 7-year-old Journi.

The couple also opened their hearts and home to a young man by the name of Braheam Murphy- and it’s another real-life The Blindside meets The West Point Story.

Braheam has quite a tragic life story- his mother died when he was 5 years old and his father struggled to raise his kids on his own. Braheam bounced between relatives and was even homeless at times.

Braheam was a talented football player, but academically ineligible to play as a high school freshman. Step in Sam, the school football coach who turned Braheam’s life around, working on his academics as well as his football skills. Sam and Connie even put a roof over Braheam’s head and the young man became a member of the family.

Braheam now plays for West Point and it looks like he will have a bright career ahead of him, something that very likely would not have happened without Sam and Connie and their kindness.

Sam and Connie were flying under the radar during their time on the Race, playing in the middle of the pack, which may have been strategic when it comes to U-turning teams, etc.

It’s hard to say if the couple would come back for future seasons if asked. If they did return, it would likely not be for a few years yet. However, over the pandemic, they’ve gained something far more precious than a race around the world and a million dollars in their pocket!366

Congratulations on the new arrival, Greiner family!
