‘The Amazing Race’ spoilers find that after the world’s longest pit stop, the Amazing Race returned on Wednesday night. Though there was no break for viewers- we’ve already been ‘Raceless’ for over a year- it was a 19-month hiatus for the racers of season 33.
In 19 months a LOT can happen (or absolutely nothing if you are sitting on your couch watching Tiger King and all its spin-offs…but I digress) and the year and a half break meant that circumstances changed for 4 teams who could no longer pick up the Race as it restarted in breathtaking Switzerland.
One of those teams is Taylor and Isaiah Green-Jones, married couple and ‘YouTube sensations’ (they had one video of their funky wedding dance that went viral, so the sensation is a little…sensationalized).
‘The Amazing Race’ Spoilers : The Devastating Reason Isaiah & Taylor Green-Jones Didn’t Return To The Show
The husbands have recently revealed the very sad reason why they didn’t return to finish up the worldwide competition.
The Oregon couple opened up to a local Portland news station to divulge the surprising news that the couple DID return to the race! The pair flew to Switzerland and were in quarantine, two days out from heading back to the (re)starting line when the pair received a devastating phone call.
It was Taylor’s mother, delivering the tragic news- Taylor’s brother had passed away from complications due to COVID.
The couple made the fast decision to fly back to the U.S. to be with Taylor’s family as they mourned.
When asked if they would like to come back again, should the opportunity arise, there was no hesitation? Both men gave a resounding “YES!”
Though the pair struggled a little through the three legs they did complete, they had at least practiced driving stick and got along okay on the other side of the road in Scotland (unlike bulk of the other teams). As for directions, the pair agree this is where their game let them down.
I sense some orienteering courses for the two in their future, as the popular couple will very likely be called back for The Amazing Race 34 or later.
