‘That ’70s Show’ is getting a spinoff series that will stream on Netflix and at least two of the original cast members are set to return to their roles.

With the working title ‘That ’90s Show’, the series is said to revolve around Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric Foreman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon), heading back to Wisconsin to spend the summer with her grandparents Kitty and Red Foreman (Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith).

According to Netflix’s official description Leia will bond “with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red.”

Rupp and Smith are both set to reprise their roles as the (now grand) matriarch and patriarch and both will perform double duty – joining creators of the original show, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner- as executive producers the for the 10-episode show

This is not the first time That 70’s Show, has stepped into the spin-off realm. That 80’s show however, did not feature any cross over from That 70’s show, other than mentioning the lead character, Corey Howard (Glenn Howerton) is the cousin of Grace’s Eric.

Despite having many of the same writers and production staff, That 80’s show never took off, only lasting 5 months back in 2002.

That’s 70’s show, however, was a runaway hit, running for 8 seasons (though general consensus agrees they should have stopped at 7) between 1998 and 2006. The 70’s themed sitcom launched the careers (and marriage) of Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart) and Ashton Kutcher, (Michael Kelso) along with Wilder Valderrama (Fez), Grace, Pepron and someone who has recently been making headlines for all the wrong reasons- Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde).

Masterson is set to stand trial for three counts of rape by force or fear. The devout Scientologist has pled not guilty and currently remains free on $3.3 million bail as his case awaits to heard by a judge in November 2021.

It’s safe to say Masterson will not be the first ex-cast member to be invited back to reprise their role, but fans of the original are hoping to see some familiar faces pop by. For what its worth, we wonder if Eric’s beloved Vista Cruiser will make an appearance. The Oldsmobile, featured in the show’s introductory theme song and titles was bought by Valderrama at the show’s conclusion for “no more than” $500.

No release date has been mentioned yet for That 90’s Show, or who will star alongside Rupp and Smith…or if Red let Kitty renovate that basement!
