After watching Monday’s episode, we couldn’t help but take note of how differently they handled things, and we think one show was definitely superior in their resolution. Let’s take a look at what happened and why we think one show did it right.

First, we have to go back a bit. Before their big time jump, Days of Our Lives had a plot involving Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). He ended brain dead after being shot. His wife, Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) refused to see the truth.
She didn’t want to give up hope the man she’d recently married would never recover. At the same time, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was in need of a new heart and her time was running short.
On Loli, we had a similar, yet different, situation. Samantha “Sam” Torres (Dalexa Meneses) turned out to have a heart condition she inherited from her late mother.
After using medication for a while to control the situation while awaiting a transplant, things took a a turn for the worse. La suerte de Loli spoilers reveal she ended up in the same desperate position as Julie—she needs that new heart yesterday. Here’s how the two shows handled the situation.

On DOOL, Julie’s family caught wind of the situation with Stefan. In a move that was somewhat understandable, yet also ghoulish, they descended on Gabi. One by one, they came to visit her and implore she donate Stefan’s heart to Julie. In the state Gabi was in, she was in no condition to consider.
She was, after all, still in denial. Plus, she and Julie have a terrible history. We didn’t like their high-pressure methods, and it definitely pushed Gabi toward the opposite. Well, until she decided to use the donation for revenge, but that’s a whole other story.
By contrast, La suerte de Loli spoilers reveal Rafael Contreras’ (Osvaldo Benavides) brother was in a car accident and also declared brain dead. However, when the rest of Sam’s family hoped he would give his brother’s heart to Sam, Loli refused to allow them to ask.
At least, right now. Instead, she supported Rafael as he sought a second opinion. In the end, the other doctor agreed there was nothing to be done and Rafael made the donation.
Telemundo La suerte de Loli: Who did it better?
We think the way things played out on Loli spoke better of the characters than the Days situation. They respected Loli’s opinion and didn’t send in a parade of people to beg for Rafael’s brother’s heart.
Sure, they wanted to use that tragedy to facilitate a miracle for their family. It’s natural to have the mind go there, but we loved they gave the space needed to have Rafael come to his own decision. Everyone will be okay with the outcome, and there should be insanity to follow like what happened in Salem.
