Say what you will about her, but there’s no denying that she will always have a lot of love for her fans. There’s a new report that says Taylor Swift has debuted a new version of “This Love” from her 1989 album. Here’s what you need to know.

Reports say Swift has teased a snippet of her re-recorded version of This Love from her 2014 album 1989. The new version, titled This Love (Taylor’s Version), features in the trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Sharing the clip on Instagram, Swift wrote: “Thank you @jennyhan for debuting my version of This Love in the trailer for thesummeriturnedpretty!! I’ve always been so proud of this song and I’m very (emotional) about this turn of events – This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!”

The song’s release hints towards 1989 being the next album Swift plans to re-release. The pop superstar embarked on the re-recording of her first six albums after the master recordings were acquired by talent manager Scooter Braun, much to her fury.

Meanwhile, Swift will have to face a jury trial over the accusations made that she copied lyrics for her hit, “Shake it Off.” Reports suggest a jury may find that her 2014 hit copied girl group 3LW’s 2001 tune Playas Gon’ Play. In his original ruling, District Judge Michael W Fitzgerald cited 13 earlier songs that featured similar phrases, including Playa Hater by The Notorious B.I.G. and Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. Playas Gon’ Play was a minor hit for 3LW. For “Shake it Off,” both tracks feature variations of the phrases “players gonna play” and “haters gonna hate. Judge Fitzgerald had previously ruled in 2018 the lyrics were too “banal” to be copyrighted.

At the time he said: “In order for such short phrases to be protected under the Copyright Act, they must be more creative than the lyrics at issue here.”
