One month after DC Comics announced Tim Drake’s Robin (the 1990s Robin for those not up on the Batman lore), they’ve announced that Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s son is bisexual.

In the new series “Superman: Son of Kal-El”, Jon Kent has been dealing with being a 17 year old boy who is also an activist and being called more powerful than his father due to the combination of the different DNAs.

While Jon’s been dealing with the pressure of coming into his power, he’s come to rely on reported Jay Nakamura, who appeared in the third issue. After being a shoulder to cry on, Jay will be bumped up to being Jon’s boyfriend, according to reports.

According to CNN.com, their relationship will start blossoming in the fifth issue, which will be out on November 9.

The details aren’t known and won’t be until the comic is released, but images from the comic that have been circulating show the two of them kissing, so there’s bound to be plenty of fire to go with the smoke.

    Not the first

While DC is making headlines with this announcement, Jon’s far from the first or even in the first group of LGBTQ characters DC and Marvel have introduced over the last couple of years.

This is something to be celebrated as Jon is a relatively fresh character and they can build him into his own character over the years if they have the patience to do so.

This is also part of many rumors and theories out there that this is a last attempt for DC to shock fans into buying the comics as they’re allegedly suffering and could be nearing the end of the line.

It’s important to note this is nothing but rumors and we hope they stay true to the character and let him grow as organically as possible and let him grown a legitimate fan base.

One thing that never changes in entertainment is if there are good stories and good characters people will enjoy and support them more times than not, and there’s no reason it won’t be the same here.

It’s going to take time for it to happen and we’ll have to wait and see if they’re successful or not. In the end, fans remember the good characters, not the characters we’re told to like.

Time will tell. We wish them the best of luck.
