Chris Rock Defends Will Smith From A Fan Heckling The Actor
Will, for his part, has widely become unpopular as a result of his slapping incident against the comedian during the Oscars. So much so that there have already been calls to have his Oscar removed, as well as concerns over whether his brand will be impacted by this incident.
While there is understandably a lot of negativity surrounding Will, Chris played the bigger man by deciding to defend the actor when he had no reason to do so. In the interaction, a fan was heard saying: “F— Will Smith,” to which Chris replied: “No, no, no, no, no…”
This response fits in line with the impeccable behaviour that Chris had shown during the incident. Not only did he keep his cool by not lashing out in kind, he made the conscious decision to not file charges against the actor.
Not many people would have done either of those things, especially since Chris was embarrassed on one of the biggest moments of his career. After all, people do not often get the chance to host the Oscars. And now the reality is that Chris has become a meme across the world.
The response from the fans on social media was full of respect. People praised the comedian for staying calm in the face of such scrutiny where there is a clear demand for people to hear Chris say something negative about Will.
One fan wrote: “Chris Rock has responded admirably this week. Hope it lasts,” while another person stated: “I respect him for doing just that but I have to say there’s a little part of me deep deep down that would like to see him throw a bunch of jokes into a set about it.”
