‘The Wendy Williams Show’ has seen a host of hosts take over the pink chair this year as the chat show’s namesake has been battling a variety of health issues.

Now all that looks set to change– the host AND the name of the show.

Sources have spoken to TMZ about a permanent solution, in the form of comedienne and actress Sherri Shepherd taking the reigns as a “‘permanent guest host”.

While talks are still happening, TMZ’s source claims it is only the I’s to dot and the T’s to cross before Shepherd is awarded the gig.

However, the deal–yet to be fully inked– will have a caveat. Producers of the Wendy Williams Show are still continually monitoring Williams’ progress with her health concerns which are plentiful. If Williams’ health does improve between now and September, Williams will take back her show, hopefully permanently.

If, however, she has not improved enough to be able to withstand the grueling filming schedule, Shepherd will take over and the show will officially change its name at the beginning of its 15th season.

Williams was last seen hosting her show back in July 2021. She has battled health issues for some time, famously passing out on air during a 2017 Halloween episode. She later blamed the fainting on a menopause hot flash.

In 2019 Williams revealed she had Graves Disease. After saying goodbye to season 13 she presumed to be back for season 14, telling fans ‘see you later’ and not ‘goodbye’. Unfortunately, she had to take a longer break than expected after battling Graves Disease, hyperthyroidism AND Covid-19.

Several different hosts have taken over in Williams absence, however, now that her pause has become a hiatus, producers have decided stability is needed. Enter Shepherd as the “permanent guest host”– and perhaps the permanent host?

I guess we have to see what the name of the show changes to.
