Candace Bushnell, who is best known for being the creator of the hit TV show Sex and the City, has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons by claiming that the show was not very feminist.

These comments caused a stir on social media, given that the show was praised for being all about women empowerment and liberation as sexual gratification was cherished. And yet, Candace saw it differently.

She felt that the show, although successful, had a bigger focus on entertainment which caused the original message to be lost. In an interview, she remarked: “Men can be very dangerous to women in a lot of different ways.

“We never talk about this, but that’s something that women need to think about…The TV show and the message were not very feminist at the end.”

Despite Candace’s reservations, the show is set to return. The show entitled ‘Is There Still Sex in the City?’ is set to hit theatres on November 13. Meanwhile, a sequel to the show is set to return on HBO Max on the same month called ‘And Just Like That .’

And given the huge fanbase that it has around the world, Candace is not surprised that it is making a comeback. She added: “That’s entertainment. That’s why people should not base their lives on a TV show.

“HBO’s going to make money on it. They’re going to exploit it as much as they can…If they didn’t reboot ‘Sex in the City,’ it would be really strange.”

Having said all that, Candace is still a fan of the show. And by seeing her work hit the TV screens once again, she will have the chance to introduce her stuff to a larger audience.

In doing so, she will make plenty of money which is only going to alleviate any doubts that she might have had about the reboot. Her following comments confirmed as much: “Of course I’m going to watch it.

“I hope it runs for six seasons. I get paid a little bit of money.” The anticipation for the show is growing, and fans will no doubt flock to tune in.
