When Selena Gomez presented at the SAG Aftra Awards last night, there was a vital part of her outfit that seemed to be missing – and that was her shoes! Why did she walk on-stage barefoot? Did she forget? Was she having a scatterbrained moment? Did she partake of the devil’s lettuce before going on-stage?
No, in fact the explanation was far more simple than that, but it happened before she actually went on stage. See, Selena took a tumble on the red carpet! Poor thing, she wobbled for just a split second before taking a spill on her knees, fortunately there were two other people there to help her up but after that, Selena took off her shoes and got to her feet.

Some people who have seen footage of the fall say that it look like Selena broke her heel and that is why she left her shoes off for the show. I mean, if going barefoot is good enough for an office secretary then why not just do the casual thing and walk the red carpet barefoot?
I mean, Selena is a former Disney star, so she could definitely channel some former Disney Princess vibes there. (Anyone who has ever watched Tangled will know exactly what I’m talking about.) Also, it’s an awards show and there is no 911 for shoe emergencies, chances are it would have taken her assistant hours to find a replacement, even if they had gone to Selena’s house to do so. There’s still LA traffic to deal with, after all.
Fortunately, Selena wasn’t actually hurt by the fall and we’re all grateful for that. The only thing that might have gotten injured was her pride, after all, taking a fall is pretty awkard in such a public setting. But not to worry!
There’s been a ton of pictures floating around of Selena having a great time with a lot of other celebrities at the show, not to mention, she was in good barefoot company too because Nicole Kidman and her hubby Keith Urban decided to take off their shoes and go barefootin’ as well!
