Scarlett Johansson’s CAA Agents Slam Disney For Their ‘Shameful’ Statement Over Lawsuit

It looks like Scarlett Johansson and her legal team is not about to bend over backwards for anyone. The actress’ CAA agents ripped into Disney for their harsh statement after Scarlett’s legal team announced that they are suing Disney for breach of contract with they released her newest movie, “Black Widow” in theaters and Disney+ on the same day.

The lawsuit says that the streaming numbers affect the box office, which in turn affects her contractual backend, prompting her to receive less in compensation.

Scarlett’s team followed a lawsuit last week in Los Angeles Superior Court against Disney, alleging her contract was breached when the media giant released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut.

The lawsuit cited a response from Marvel’s chief counsel, which stated “Black Widow” would be released like other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meaning, it would have a theatrical run before going to the home video market.

It didn’t take long for Disney to fire back by suggesting that the lawsuit has no merit whatsoever. The company said, “The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

That’s when Scarlett’s CAA agents had something to say. According to Deadline, a statement was released that read: “[Disney] shamelessly and falsely accused Ms. Johansson of being insensitive to the global COVID pandemic, in an attempt to make her appear to be someone they and I know she isn’t. Scarlett has been Disney’s partner on nine movies, which have earned Disney and its shareholders billions. The company included her salary in their press statement in an attempt to weaponize her success as an artist and businesswoman, as if that were something she should be ashamed of.”

So far Disney has not released a response, but we will update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
