According to reports, due of his clinical memory loss, Ron Jeremy is deemed incompetent to stand trial for dozens of counts of sexual assault, including rape. According to the LA Times, a diagnosis of severe dementia was made after meetings with medical professionals consulted by both the prosecution and defense, respectively. According to the article, there is also no evidence that he is lying.
As soon as January 17 Jeremy will be ruled incompetent, the Times reports, citing an L.A. County Deputy D.A. This effectively ends the legal procedures against him and will likely result in him being admitted to a state-run hospital. The D.A. is reportedly leaving the possibility of further prosecution open if RJ makes progress, but as of right now, there’s no indication that will happen anytime soon.
Ron Jeremy’s Dementia Means He Will NOT Stand Trial For Dozens Of Sexual Assaults
In 2021, Jeremy was charged with 30 counts, including charges made by 21 separate women, who all said he had forced himself on them in one manner or another over the course of decades. The age range of the claimed victims was 15 to 51. To all of it, he entered a not guilty plea.
According to others, Jeremy’s charges signal a long overdue reckoning for the adult film industry, where moral boundaries might easily be crossed and illegal activity could readily creep in. Naturally, the putative victims are angry about this most recent ruling, calling it a case of justice eluded.
It feels like the victims will not get to say their peace and see Jeremy answer for everything that he has done, unfortunately. It leads to an interesting case of whether or not his estate will have to answer to these charges eventually.
What do you think? Should Jeremy’s estate still have to answer for everything that he is being accused of? Let us know in the comments below.
