Rock musician Rod Stewart and his son Sean Stewart have both decided to plead guilty in relation to a case of battery that had occurred in 2019.

According to reports, an altercation had taken place at a hotel in Florida. It is claimed that an incident had ensued between the Stewarts and Jessie Dixon, who happened to be a security guard at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach.

It is suggested that Jessie’s refusal to allow Rod to hold a private New Year’s Eve party was the reason for the altercation. Subsequently, Jessie had claimed that Rod had decided to punch him in the ribs, while Rod’s son Sean had shoved the security guard.

Although there were no injuries sustained in the incident, the very fact of the matter is that this has tarnished Rod’s image somewhat. After all, he is one of the few musicians in the world to have been knighted by none other than Queen Elizabeth II.

Naturally, that is not a good look when it comes to marketing yourself as one of the biggest names in the music industry.

Guy Fronstin, who happens to be the attorney for Rod, had this to say: “Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high profile proceeding would cause.”

While Rod will have to suck things up at the hands of the media, he will have the benefit of not having to do any time in jail or paying a fine as a result.

In addition, this case will now come to a definitive end given that Jessie has, according to Dave Aronberg (a spokesperson for Palm Beach State Attorney), agreed with the decision.

It is probably wise that Rod manages his behaviour in public going forward. Not only is he not getting any younger, but he will always be a target for scrutiny by virtue of how big of a star he is.

With that in mind, perhaps this New Year, Rod will decide to keep things a little lowkey in light of what happened last time around.
