Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne wants the world to know that she really does hate her estranged husband Tom Girardi enough that she wants to divorce him. In fact, the reality star has been forced to go on the record to deny the claims made suggesting that her divorce from her husband is a sham. Here’s what you need to know.
During the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly hills, Erika was in tears when she recounted her husband’s scandal. She also said she couldn’t believe all of the rumors suggesting her split from Tom was a way to hide their money.

“This sucks so bad. The things that are being said are just wrong,” Jayne said. “People are believing [the allegations] and they’re everywhere and it’s terrible. I’m here, by myself, and what’s being said, I mean, it’s insane that my divorce is a sham. But nobody cares about the facts.”
As many fans and critics know by now, Erika Jayne pulled the plug on her marriage to Tom Girardi in November of 2020. The former couple is being accused of using their divorce to embezzle money and hide assets from the victims of Lion Air Flight 610 in a lawsuit that was filed the following month.
A high-profile Chicago law firm is accusing the RHOBH star and her husband in a federal lawsuit of a scheme to embezzle money from settlements related to the crash of Lion Air Flight 610.
It alleges that Thomas Girardi embezzled the money to keep up the couple’s celebrity status and to “project a public image of obscene wealth at all times, and at whatever the cost.”
“Tom has resorted to embezzling the proceeds of settlements that should have been directed to his clients — including, as the basis for this Complaint, the widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610 — in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles,” documents in the case state.
What’s more, the lawsuit said Boeing reached individual settlements with clients represented by both Girardi Keese and Edelson PC. However, it goes on to say that the settlement funds were used by Tom and Erika for their personal use.
“At the heart of this deception is Defendant Girardi and his need to fund outrageous lifestyles for himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Erika Jayne,” it says, claiming that protecting their finances is the reason for their recent divorce, and that this incident is not “the first attempt by Tom to hide and divert assets.”
