Rapper Bad Bunny Speaks Out After Throwing A Fan's Phone In The Sea

After a fan took a selfie with him, Bad Bunny, the 28-year-old rapper, was captured on video throwing the individual’s phone into a nearby body of water.

This was reported by TMZ on Monday, 2nd January 2022, and the clip showed the artist walking along a boardwalk close to the sea in the Dominican Republic. A video posted to Twitter showed Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the rapper, snatching a phone from a woman’s hand and throwing it into the sea.

This elicited a disappointed reaction from the onlookers. He later went on Twitter to give his version of the episode, mentioning that he was offended that the admirer had not greeted him before asking for a selfie.

In his comments, he said: “The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect. Those who come to put a phone b****** in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise.”

It is not surprising, then, that the fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter. A certain subset of people were not shocked that the rapper had acted in this way since his privacy had been violated. Meanwhile, others were of the view that regardless of any disrespect shown, there was no reason for the musician to act in such a way.

One person wrote: “Let’s normalise the fact that artists are human beings and deserve to be treated with respect always. Below the stage they are not a show, you cannot record them without their consent.

“Approach, say hello and ask for permission,” while another person stated: “Someone putting a “F***ing phone” on you, maybe that girl … tried very hard to buy that phone and you get to throw it away in seconds.”
