This sure hasn’t been Queen Elizabeth’s week, her month, or her year for that matter. There are new reports that say the queen has tested positive for COVID-19, and only a few weeks after her son Prince Charles had tested positive for the virus and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

The good news though is the monarch is only experiencing mild cold-like symptoms. The bad news, of course, is that she’s 95. Here’s what you need to know.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Buckingham Palace confirm that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid. Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week. She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”

That said, Queen is not the only person in her circle to test positive for Covid-19, a royal source said on Sunday. “A number of cases have been diagnosed in the Windsor Castle team,” one source has said. A royal source confirmed at the time that the Queen had “recently” met her eldest son, but the source did not elaborate on exactly when the interaction had taken place.

Back on February 11th, Clarence House tweeted: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating. HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible,” the statement added. He had been due to unveil a statue of a Jewish business woman from medieval times.”

This isn’t the first time that the future king of England has tested positive for the virus. Charles first tested positive in late March 2020, as countries around the world were first feeling the effects of the pandemic.

Prince Charles also said at the time he was first infected that he had been lucky to only experience mild symptoms, adding he’d “got away with it quite lightly.” Back in 2020 Prince William also tested positive, soon after his father.
