Daniel Craig has opened up on the moment that he met Queen Elizabeth II.
James Bond Star Daniel Craig Recalls Meeting Queen Elizabeth II-She Is ‘Very Funny’
The actor, who is most iconically known for being James Bond, had the opportunity to get involved in a TV sketch with the monarch, as part of the opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics.
While the fans only got to see what was on screen, behind the scenes, Daniel got to know the things that people do not know about the Royal family.
In an interview on ‘The Late Show,’ Daniel said: “[She is] very funny. Wants to crack a joke, and cracked a joke about me. We’re having our photographs taken and she just went, ‘Oh no, he’s the one that doesn’t smile.’ Fair enough!”
This chemistry was seen best in the following video. In the video here, Daniel is playing Bond as he interacts with the monarch as part of their performance.
It is clear during the scene that both are honoured to be in each other’s company, as the performance went down a treat. So much so that the video went viral with over 50 million views and counting.
This clearly demonstrates that the monarch is someone that can relate to the public. After all, there is often a misconception about the Royal family where there is a belief that they cannot understand the issues that impact ordinary people.
Although there is some merit to that, it can equally be said that behind the cameras, there is a sincere nature that is not often talked about.
Much in the same way, the actor also had the privilege to meet the Queen’s dogs. And by the looks of it, he had a great time. Daniel added: “[I was] rolling around on the floor [with the dogs. They’re very friendly.”
Daniel may no longer be playing James Bond, but he has managed to create memories that will last a lifetime. And nothing will ever be able to top the fact that he had the opportunity to act with Queen Elizabeth II.
And that is a career highlight that many people would be proud of. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
