British Royal News suggests that Queen Elizabeth apparently had something to say about Meghan Markle’s very white wedding dress that she wore when she married Prince Harry back in 2108. Here’s what you need to know.
Royal reporter Katie Nicholl writes in her new book, “The New Royals,’ that Queen Elizabeth was none too pleased with the fact that Meghan Markle wore white on her wedding day to Prince Harry. One source close to the situation said, “The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day. Perhaps it’s a generational thing, but she believes if you’ve been married before, you wear off-white on your wedding day, which is what the Duchess of Cornwall did.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both royal fans and critics to weigh in on this matter. Some commented with, “They can lose this nonsense about what the women wear until they come up with something that details the groom’s status. The white wedding dress was actually popular because of Queen Victoria and had nothing to do with previous weddings or virginity anyway,” along with, “I would have thought the queen would have seen the dress or at least the designs in advance and could have vetoed it loooong before the wedding day. I think if she had hated it, I am sure Meghan would have tried to make some changes (depending on how much time was left before the wedding). So I think this story from Katie is fanfic at best.”
Another fan wrote, “Queen Victoria was the first bride to wear white because she thought it looked pretty and she could afford to wear a dress only once. And she made her bridesmaids wear white, too. She asked that no one else wear white just so they’d stand out in the paintings. Nothing to do with virginity. Before QV’s wedding, brides wore brightly colored dresses, with red being the favorite color of brides. In Judaism, bride and groom both wear white to signify starting fresh with a clean slate.”
