Princess Beatrice has given birth to her second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose! The tiny princess has become 11th in line to the throne, which brings Princess Eugenie down to 12th place.
Beatrice And Edoardo Are Overjoyed To Welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose Into The Family
Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are overjoyed to welcome their new baby into the family.
Athena is the little sister of the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Sienna, who is tenth in line to the throne.
In a sweet post on Instagram this early afternoon, Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Athena:
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mappelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 p.m.”
The message continued,
“The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and five ounces. The King, Queen, and other members of the Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted by the news.”
The Palace added that Princess Beatrice and her husband wanted to thank the hospital and its staff for their top-quality care and attention. The baby is healthy and doing well, and Athena has met her siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.
Athena is the fourteenth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and the second one to be born after her death in September 2022, following the birth of Princess Eugenie’s son Ernest last year.
Like her sister, Sienna, Athena’s middle name is likely a tribute to her great-grandmother. Edoardo shared on Instagram that his little girl was “tiny” and “absolutely perfect.”
He also posted an adorable picture of his new baby cozy and snug in a blanket and exclaimed that they welcomed her last week.

Two more family photos were shared to mark the happy occasion. One of the pictures showed little Sienna from behind, strolling across a country lane, holding hands with her older brother and her daddy.
She was wearing a bright red bow in her hair, vibrant yellow wellies, and a blue puddlesuit decorated with clouds and birds.
In another picture, Beatrice is embraced by her loving husband, who gazes at his wife adoringly.
On social media, Sarah Ferguson was beyond thrilled to give her congratulations as the proud grandmother of Athena,
“Overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world. She is already so adored, and I’m incredibly blessed to be a granny once again.”
It is hard to believe that Buckingham Palace announced that the Princess of York was expecting another child in October last year.
Beatrice married Edoardo in a small ceremony in July 2020. Her grandparents, the Queen and Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, attended the wedding.
In her daddy’s message on social media, he declared,
“We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect”
He added,
“We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.”
“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.”
