Prince William has decided to skip out on the memorial for King Constantine II for “personal reasons.” King Constantine II of Greece was King Charles’s second cousin and William’s Godfather. They were very close.
King Constantine Died on January 10th, 2023
King Constantine became the ruler of Greece in 1964. The monarchy was disestablished in 1973; Therefore, Constantine was the last King of Greece.
The former King had chronic heart and mobility issues. The King’s health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized during the last week of his life. He died of a stroke on January 10th, 2023, at age 82.
King Charles did not attend the memorial service either, as his cancer treatment continued. In William’s absence, Queen Camilla participated in the funeral.
Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, their daughter Princess Beatrice, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were also present for the service. The Greek royal family personally invited Prince Andrew. Andrew and Fergie’s other daughter, Princess Eugenie, was not there.
Princess Anne, her daughter, Zara Tindell, and her husband, Mike Tindell, were in attendance. King Constantine is survived by his wife, Queen Anne Marie, their son, Prince Pavlos, and his wife, Princess Marie-Chantal.
William was expected to read an excerpt from the Bible, Revelation 21: 1-7, which is often read at funerals. A quote in this scripture is,
“I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had vanished, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming from God’s heaven, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice proclaiming from the throne: ‘Now God has his dwelling with mankind! He will dwell among them; they shall be his people, and God will be with them. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There shall be an end to death and mourning and crying and pain, for the old order has passed away!”
The Palace Said Kate is “Doing Well”
The number of working royals has dwindled since Charles and Kate have been dealing with health issues. Because there are fewer working royals, it is difficult for the royal family to cope with fewer frontline royals attending engagements.
William has been helping his wife, Kate Middleton, with the children as she is recovering. Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte are all cared for by their father, Prince William.
Earlier today, the Palace said the Princess of Wales is “doing well.” This news comes after she had abdominal surgery and is now comfortably recovering at their home in Windsor.
People have not seen Kate publicly since the Christmas family walk to church in Sandringham. There have been many rumors and theories as to why Kate needed to have abdominal surgery.
Many people thought she had a hysterectomy to remove her uterus after she and Willam had finished having children.

The press shared rumors Kate had to be induced into a medical coma. The Palace squashed the rumors, saying the journalist who reported it didn’t check the facts.
Kate will take this time to recover and will not resume her royal duties until after Easter.
