Prince William, Kate Middelton, with their children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte, are set to move to a new home in Windsor after Kate’s brutal cancer battle.
The Move Was Inspired By Kate And William’s “Annus Horribilis.”
The move was inspired by the challenging year William, Catherine, and the kids endured. Although they moved to Adelaide Cottage three years ago.
In the few years since they lived at the cottage, William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed on. Additionally, his father, King Charles III, and Kate were both diagnosed with cancer.
The Prince of Wales has referred to 2024 as a “brutal year.” In the words of the late Queen, it was his “Annus Horribilis.”
The Princess of Wales announced she was cancer-free in September. However, the King is still undergoing treatment.
The couple and their children will move later this year to Forest Lodge. The Lodge is an eight-bedroom home in Windsor Great Park.
Renovations are reportedly underway at the property, so it will be ready for the family to move in before the end of the year. They plan to move to Forest Lodge around Christmastime.
Kate and William have confirmed that this new house will be their permanent home. Unlike Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who lived at Frogmore Cottage. Kate and William will be paying for all renovations.
The royal couple is also paying for the move and covering the costs at no expense to the taxpayers in Britain.
Kate has already been spotted carefully selecting furniture for the 328-year-old lodge. Football fan William will also be able to view the Wembley Arch through his bedroom window.
William And Catherine Plan To Make Forest Lodge Their Permanent Home
The Prince and Catherine plan to make Buckingham, Windsor, and Kensington Palace a working location only.
William likely wants to modernize the monarchy by declining to live in a castle. Moving gives them the chance to start a new chapter in life.
An inside source claims that Kate and William want to stay as “hands-on” parents as possible while balancing their work and family life.
The media were permitted inside Forest Lodge to capture pictures of the reconstructions 24 years ago. The glimpse into the home revealed original stonework, ceiling decorations, plaster cornices, marble fireplaces, Venetian windows, and a half-barrel-vaulted ceiling.
Forest Lodge was said to be last renovated in 2001. The surrounding land boasts several cottages, a large pond, and a tennis court, which will be perfect for Catherine since she loves tennis.
The family has no live-in staff at their current home in Adelaide, and reportedly, that will also be the case when they move to Forest Lodge.
While the Wales Family’s new home is an upgrade from the modest Adelaide cottage, it is only half the size of Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge.
Of course, Kate and William’s beloved black cocker spaniel dog, Orla, will be coming with them when the family makes this significant move to their new abode.
A source close to William and Kate confirmed, “This is a move for the long-term. The family intends to stay in their new home after the regime change.”
