Prince William and Kate Middleton are bringing up their kids like most parents do.Princes George, Louis, and Princess Charlotte have a very “typical” childhood. The couple has a very hands-on parenting style. Their upbringing is prioritized over royal duties.
Kate Tries To Emulate Elements Of Her Childhood With The Kids
Kate had a regular childhood with her brother, James Middleton, and sister, Pippa Middleton. She strives to bring this sense of normalcy into their kids’ lives.
Kate loves to cook for the children. Like most other kids, their favorite dinner is pizza. She also makes homemade birthday cakes for them.
The children have been spotted running errands with their mom, like going to the grocery store. William and Kate also don’t depend on nannies to raise their children like most children in the royal family.
The couple is also more sensitive with their children than other parents. They openly express affection for their children even in public, which is rare for royal family members.
Royal expert Jennie Bond said,
“I’ve read that they have a very modern way of parenting where, instead of putting your child on the naughty step, you allow your child to explain why they feel how they do and have a conversation about it so they can express themselves and calm down that way.”
In most other areas, the Prince and Princess of Wales believe their children should have a normal upbringing. Family TV time in the household may become a war between the kids.
William said on one occasion that his children are
“always wrestling over the remote.”
He admitted that the fights are sometimes epic.
William Loves To Tell “Dad Jokes”
Charlotte has several friendship bracelets from when she attended the Taylor Swift concert in London with William and her brother, George.
Louis can be very mischievous, and sometimes he acts out. He often tries to steal his sister’s friendship bracelets, which inevitably causes a row.
In September, William visited a school where a young student gave him friendship bracelets for his children. He was thankful and joked,
“I’ll keep them away from Louis because he’ll try to steal all his sister’s bits.”
Charlotte wears her bracelets to royal outings, like Wimbledon.
William and Kate monitor their kids’ screen time. They love gaming, and George gets very excited about it. They also relish watching films.
Kate exclaimed,
“All that is creative. I adore film and gaming as well. I’m trying to get the next generation interested in it.”
William likes to tell “dad jokes” as the kids roll their eyes. Charlotte’s favorite joke of William’s is a knock-knock joke. Willam told this joke during a visit to a school.
“Knock-knock,” he started. The kids responded, “Who’s there?” William said, “Interrupting cow.” As the children started to ask, “Interrupting cow who?” before they could finish the question, William let out a resounding, “Moo.”
A couple of years ago, when Charlotte was six, Willaim said Charlotte also said she was sixteen when asked about her age.
The Prince explained that Charlotte would say,
“I’m six now. I’ll do what I want.”
William joked, “They grow up very fast.” Truer words, William.
