British Royal News says members of the royal family led by King Charles III paid tribute to UK and Commonwealth soldiers who died in war over the weekend.

The Prince and Princess of Wales left a touching message on a poppy wreath – complete with Prince of Wales feathers and a Welsh red ribbon – William placed on the Cenotaph war memorial in London as Kate, standing beside Queen Camilla on the balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office looked on. The Prince and Princess of Wales’ message said, “At the #RemembranceSunday Service this morning, remembering all those who have served and continue to serve our nation and the Commonwealth.”

All members of the firm were dressed in black – while William wore his military uniform – and added a red artificial poppy – Britain’s symbol of remembrance – on their person. Kate also paid special tribute to Queen Elizabeth, who died in September, when she attended the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday with Prince William.

The Princess of Wales wore two pieces that once belonged to the queen: the Bahrain pearl drop earrings and a four-strand pearl choker necklace with a diamond in the center. The queen wore the choker necklace for a state banquet in Bangladesh in 1983, People reports, while the pearl earrings were a special gift from Prince Philip for their wedding in 1947. The pieces were also worn by Kate before at the funeral and committal service of the queen.

The wreath was soon joined by others left by the Prince of Wales, the Earl of Wessex, and the Princess Royal, with the Queen Consort’s assistant equerry, Captain Edward Andersen, laying her tribute.

What’s more, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also paid tribute to the fallen on behalf of the government by leaving a wreath, followed by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, other party leaders, senior members of the Cabinet, military chiefs of staff and high commissioners. Watching from the balcony of a government building was Camilla and the Princess of Wales, and nearby on another balcony was the Countess of Wessex and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
