Prince Harry’s visa case has taken a shocking turn as the Department of Homeland Security has agreed to release secret records that could prove that the Duke of Sussex lied on his application form about his past drug use.
Three Items Could Shed Light On Prince Harry’s Drug Use
Lawyers for the DHS have consented to open three items with redactions, which will provide some insight.
However, none of the fourth document will be made public as the judge ruled it should stay private. This follows Judge Nichols’s suggestion that he may allow the release of some sealed documents from Harry’s visa application.
The case started when Washington D.C. conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation questioned why Harry was permitted to enter the U.S.
The latest development in this row comes days after President Trump declared himself “King” in a portrait posted on Truth Social with him wearing a crown.
Trump claimed he wouldn’t deport Harry because “He has enough problems with his wife,” he quipped. “She’s terrible.”
The Heritage Foundation is questioning the approval of Prince Harry’s visa. Despite him discussing his past drug use in his tell-all memoir, “Spare.”
The Duke admitted to using marijuana, cocaine, and magic mushrooms. These helped him cope with the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
The think tank wants to find out if Harry received special treatment. Did the Biden administration turn a deaf ear? Was he untruthful on his immigration forms?
US visa applications reveal an individual’s history and drug use, which can negatively affect the outcome of an application. Drug use often leads to an application being denied.
In the filing, lawyer, John Bardo, decided that “redacted versions of items 1-3 can be made public. Specifically, Defendant would propose redacting all information in these items that would reveal information that the Court has determined Defendant can withhold,” the filing explained.
Trump Would Support Legal Action Against Harry
Bardo said the items would be given to Judge Nichols by March 6th. He also reminded the court that there is no “publicly available information.” The prince has never been convicted of a drug-related offense.
The Heritage Foundation claims that if Harry lied on his application, it could call into question the integrity of the U.S. government.
Bardo dismissed the Heritage Foundation’s insinuations as speculation. Weeks ago, Judge Nichols said he wanted to make the “maximum amount of material public” about Harry’s visa forms.
In September, the Judge said Harry’s records should remain private. However, he reconsidered and decided he wanted to reveal as much as possible.
Anyone caught lying on a visa application can face up to five years in prison or deportation. After previously saying he didn’t want to deport Harry, he’s now saying he would support legal action against the Prince if he is found to have lied about his drug use.
A source explained, “If Harry answered the drug questions truthfully, that would have triggered a visa waiver process whereby he would have been interviewed and given a waiver. If that is the case, the public has the right to know.”
Harry has lived in the U.S. since stepping down as a working royal in January 2020 and moved to California with Meghan Markle and his children Archie and Lilibet.
