So, does this mean that things are finally back to normal between all of them? Well, not really, but at least this is a good sign. Prince William and Kate Middleton took time out from their royal feuding with the Sussexes to wish Prince Harry a very happy birthday.
The Duke of Sussex turned 37 this week, and while the ice is yet to thaw between him and his brother, the Cambridges at least made an effort to acknowledge his birthday on social media. Here’s what you need to know.
William and Kate took to their joint Instagram account to share a photo of Harry grinning, along with a simple birthday message. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE HARRY!” the couple wrote on their Instagram Story, adding a red balloon emoji.

However, in an interview with ET Online, royal author Omid Scobie suggests that Harry and William are not texting and calling each other several times a day, as some reports would like to suggest. “The relationship between Harry and William is still very much one of distance,” Scobie said. “I don’t just mean physical [distance], across the Atlantic, but they are not talking that much, and that is exactly how sources close to William have put it.”
Scobie also says there’s still a lot of anger from Prince William towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their decision to leave the royal family. He says that seeing how Harry and Meghan have “carried out their departure from their royal lives,” and the experience is something William “has not been able to come to terms with yet.”
With that said though, both Harry and Meghan are committed to keeping their game faces on, for better or for worse. “Both sides are able to put everything to one side when it comes to focusing on the bigger, more important moments — whether that is of course remembering the life of Prince Philip, next year’s Royal Jubilee [or] most importantly to the brothers, remembering and honoring the life and legacy of their mother,” said Scobie
“Unfortunately, that has not led to any sort of bigger movement,” Scobie said. “These are still two brothers who aren’t in regular communication, or in much communication at all, and I think they remain on these very different paths.”
