Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “Polo” docuseries hasn’t exactly generated positive reviews. In fact, one royal expert and commentator, who calls herself “Brittany,” recently watched the show and had a lot to say, but none of it was favorable.
“Bloated, Boring, Unfocused, And Cruel”
While documentaries can be compelling, this one failed to educate and entertain.
According to Brittany, the docuseries is
“bloated, boring, unfocused, and cruel.”
Her main complaint was that the horses were treated cruelly.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “Polo” Docuseries SLAMMED As Complete Trash By Royal Family Expert
Meghan, an advocate for animals and champion for UK animal charity Mayew, wants to make polo accessible. But in polo, the players bash the horses into each other. They are overworked and disrespected, which makes the sport inaccessible to most people. Meghan’s support of this endeavor is incredibly hypocritical.
Brittany even pointed out that centuries ago, horses were respected because they were used to travel from one place to another and were a huge aspect of our daily lives. Horse injuries and vet visits require a lot of money, and the animals risk their own lives for this elitist, unrelatable sport.
One of the professional players admitted,
“I don’t know any of my f***ing horses names.”
These horses put themselves in great danger, and he doesn’t even care enough to know their names.
Poor storytelling and Harry and Meghan’s inability to “tell” and not “show” the audience why polo is an interesting sport also fell flat. The show had no compelling content, and the characters didn’t provide any reason for the viewer to care about them.
Another key issue is that polo doesn’t make any money. Yet, the players put up an obscene amount of money into the millions to play this sport, making it unattainable for most of the population.
Prince Harry And Meghan Can’t Create Compelling Content To Save Their Lives
Prince Harry and Meghan are notoriously terrible at creating compelling content. The jerk, who didn’t know the names of the animals, was featured in several mundane and irrelevant clips, which was a waste of time.
The content also repeats itself, with the players saying the same thing over and over. None of what the players said was interesting because they didn’t show the audience anything to back it up.
One of the players had an accident and went into a coma on the field. This was the most interesting part of the documentary. However, they didn’t show the impact and the aftermath. Again, they told me but didn’t show.
One of the players was obsessed with winning this game—so much so that he set up a horse breeding facility to breed capable horses that could win.
It would have been better if the docuseries focused on the player’s obsession with polo. It would have left the viewer wondering why this man who did not make any money participating in this sport is so preoccupied with winning.
Prince Harry and Meghan are barely featured in the series. They had a couple of unnecessary interactions, and that was the extent of their contribution to the series.
If one has to have a series about polo, answer questions like how you follow the game and what the strategy is to win. In the end, the viewer won’t care. It’s just yet another failed project from the Sussexes.
