Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been snubbed from an invite to Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding. Hugh is Archie’s godfather, although the couple has not been invited to Hugh’s special occasion.
The Duke of Westminster and his bride-to-be, Olivia Henson, are said to want to keep the peace amid the royal family’s feud with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Harry and Meghan Are Missing from the Guest List
Omid Scobie’s “Endgame” is doing precisely what the author had intended for it to do. It is causing controversy and division among the royal family.
Even though Grosvenor is the godfather to little Prince Archie, Harry and Meghan will not be in attendance on his big day.
Kate, William, King Charles, and Camilla are all invited. The wedding will take place in June at the Chester Cathedral, a special place with which the Grosvenors have long been associated.
The Prince of Wales is running for best man, as Harry and William are lifelong friends of The Duke of Westminster.
There is an overall feeling of tension between the royals and the Sussexes. And now there is a glaring omission in the guest list.
In “Endgame,” The King and Princess Kate were named as the royal racists, as they allegedly made comments about the color of Archie’s skin before he was born.
Grosvenor reportedly considered including Harry and Meghan to his wedding but changed his mind. He thought the royal racist row would cast a dark cloud over his wedding day.
A source close to the Duke of Westminster said,
“It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of William and Harry’s very close friends who’s maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up but realizes it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
Hugh’s Royal Connections
Hugh met Olivia Henson when she was introduced to him through friends two years ago. Olivia’s job is working for an ethical food firm. She attended Marlborough College.
The couple dated for two years before their engagement. The Duke proposed to her in April 2023 at the Duke’s home in Eaton Hall.
Hugh was educated at a local state primary before he went off to study at school, Mostyn House, followed by Ellesmere College.
After high school, he attended Newcastle University, earning a Bachelor of Science in countryside management.
Hugh is nicknamed “Hugie” and is the godfather to the Prince of Wales’s son, Geroge. The Grosvenors have a long and rich history with the royal family, as the Duke’s late father was King Charles’s godfather.
King Charles is also Hugh Grosvenor’s godfather. The Duke of Westminster is the only son of Gerald Grosvenor, who died in August 2016.
Hugh’s mother, Natalia, came from the Russian Imperial House of Romanov. She is a philanthropist and winemaker. The Duke is Chair of the Grosvenor Trustees and the Westminster Foundation.
It is a shame Harry and Meghan have significantly burned their bridges. The Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson’s wedding is said to be the royal family event of the year.
