He said that he was sorry, but apparently it was not enough. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being slammed for apparently trying to destroy Jeremy Clarkson’s future even though he’s now apologized twice for the insensitive column that he wrote about the Duchess of Sussex back in December. Here’s what you need to know.
Royal author and expert Angela Levin, who has written a book about Camilla Parker Bowles in the past, took to her Twitter account to write, “Harry and Meghan’s response to an apology is a warning for the Royal family not to say they are sorry as Harry has demanded. Jeremy Clarkson made an awful comment about Meghan, but did acknowledge he was wrong. H and M don’t then have to try to destroy his future as well.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle SLAMMED For Trying To Destroy Jeremy Clarkson’s Future: “No Compassion!”
Many critics seemed to agree as they also commented on the matter with, “Harry and Meghan have shown no compassion to anyone! I have lost count of the apologies Meghan’s own father has issued for trying to improve his own public image. Never been acknowledged let alone accepted by the 2 bullies. Despicable,” along with, “Let’s be clear, he’s made several vicious comments about Meghan and women in general. Even his own daughter was embarrassed and disgusted. I am so glad Amazon have ended his contract.”
Another critic wrote, “Clarkson has destroyed his own career. Meghan did not ask him to write about her,he chose to do so in the most appalling and public http://way. Now he must face the consequences.”
Prince Harry branded the article about his wife “horrific, hurtful and cruel” during an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby to discuss his autobiography Spare, adding that what Clarkson had written would encourage people around the world to believe it is an acceptable way to treat women.
The article also attracted criticism from other high-profile figures, politicians, and Clarkson’s own daughter, Emily Clarkson. In a lengthy statement on Clarkson’s verified Instagram account on Monday, The Grand Tour presenter said he emailed the royal couple on Christmas Day to say his language in the column had been “disgraceful” and he was “profoundly sorry.”
