They are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are once again being mocked by royal critics who don’t believe they are important enough to release statements about some of the more concerning world events out there. Here’s what you need to know.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been getting mocked for wading into the crisis that is currently enfolding in Afghanistan, as the Taliban have taken over the capital of Kabul.
A lengthy statement released on their Archewell Foundation website said they were “heartbroken” and “speechless” at the “exceptionally fragile” state the world was currently in. In their statement, they also addressed the ongoing pandemic that has been COVID-19, along with the devastating earthquake that has hit Haiti.

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for royal critics to weigh in. Royal journalist Richard Eden tweeted: “Thank goodness Harry and #Meghan have managed to share a few words on the world’s crises, despite being rendered ‘speechless.’”
TalkRADIO host Julia Hartley-Brewer added: “Thank god ‘speechless’ Harry and Meghan have spoken on the terrible state of the world. So now we all know what we are supposed to feel, say and do. We’d never have known if it weren’t for them being so…y’know… speechless.”
Royal author Angela Levin also sarcastically said: “They sometimes take our breath away,” before adding, “I think Harry and Meghan’s grandiose, comfy and caring comments about the situation in Afghanistan, the disaster in Haiti and new Covid variants is another example of them trying to set up some sort of alternate woke Royal Family. Like most of their ‘compassionate’ gestures there is no indication about what they themselves will do and whether any donations will be going through Archewell Foundation.”
