Bethany Joy Lenz, known for her role in ‘One Tree Hill’, recently surprised listeners on her Drama Queens podcast by revealing her past involvement in a cult for a decade.

During the latest episode, Lenz, alongside her ‘One Tree Hill’ co-hosts Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush, discussed writing books.

When guest Michaela McManus asked if Lenz or Bush planned to release their own books, Lenz responded, “I would love to write about my experience. I was in a cult for 10 years. That would be a really valuable experience to write about, and the recovery — you know, 10 years of recovery after that. So there’s a lot to tell.”

While Lenz didn’t provide further details at this time, she explained why she hadn’t spoken out about her experience yet, whether in a book or otherwise. She expressed the pressure to get the story right and the complexities involved due to legal considerations and the involvement of other individuals.

She went on to explain that, “The pressure of getting it right and everything having to be exactly real, and all the people that are involved. Also, I don’t know how much I can say because there are still people and legal things in place that make it more complicated for the timing of that.”

Lenz acknowledged that her ADHD had made it challenging to organize her thoughts over the years but assured listeners that she constantly writes and hinted at having “some things in the works.”

The Drama Queens podcast, launched in 2021, has been a platform for Lenz, Burton, and Bush to share their experiences, both positive and negative, from their time on One Tree Hill.

“For all the things that do hurt, there’s so much healing and it’s such a safe place and a safe space here among us as sisters and friends and professionals that it’s just been better than any of us could have dreamed,” she ended.
