Raquel Welch, a pioneering actress and global sex icon, has passed away. Raquel passed away this morning following a brief illness, according to family members. Welch originally became well-known for her consecutive performances in the 1966 films “Fantastic Voyage” and “One Million Years B.C.”

Welch only got a few lines in “B.C.,” but it was her outfit—a plain and revealing deerskin bikini—that made her a sex icon. Welch’s career took off after that, making her one of the most in-demand female performers during the 1960s and 1970s. She also won a ton of awards along the way, including a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her part in “The Three Musketeers” in 1974.

She also performed “I’m a Woman” with Cher on “The Cher Show” in 1975. Welch’s last known acting role was in UPtv’s “Date My Dad” in 2017, where the superstar played Rosa, the mother-in-law of a single dad. Welch also made time for his business ventures, which included wig, jewelry, and skincare brands.

Welch made several sitcom appearances in the 1990s, notably “Seinfeld,” when she played a fictional version of herself as a tribute to the famed diva she had become. In “Spin City,” “Evening Shade,” and “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” Welch also made an appearance.

At the start of the century, Welch continued to play recognizable roles. The legendary actress co-starred with Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 film “Legally Blonde” as Mrs. Windham Vandermark, the ex-wife of the late Hayworth Windham, whose murder Witherspoon’s Elle Woods helps solve.

According to a statement from her management, the celebrity leaves behind her two children, daughter Tahnee Welch and son Damon Welch.

    Rest in peace, Raquel.
