Oliver Anthony became an overnight sensation, and over the last few weeks he’s had the number one song ‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ completely blow up. The song itself calls out the welfare state of the country, as well as the politicians in DC that believe the world revolves around them.
The song became an instant hit and has millions of views on YouTube, making Anthony one of the hottest singers and songwriters out there right now, even beating Taylor Swift. He even attracted the attention of Joe Rogan and was invited onto the podcast to speak about the song and what was going on in his life now.
Oliver Anthony Explains The Unexpected Success Of ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’ On The Joe Rogan Experience
Anthony has been contacted by several sponsors and record labels, but refuses to sign anything or be paid for any of those things. He even addressed rumors around the internet, such as him singing at the Super Bowl. Sorry for fans out there, but Anthony is not singing at the Super Bowl.
Sadly, this is just an internet rumor that seemed to get passed around and ended up making it big. While many would have enjoyed seeing him up there, perhaps you will have to wait until next year. Of course, there’s always a chance that between now and then, there could be a deal made.
The rest of the conversation felt like two friends sitting around a fire talking about music. Anthony delved into his backstory and how it took him years to finally decide to do something with his talent, but now couldn’t be more grateful. The best part is, he is staying relatively grounded and has a good head on his shoulders.
It will be interesting to see what the future brings for the young singer/songwriter, and being on the Joe Rogan Experience can only bolster his success. You can watch the entire podcast for free on Spotify.
