The great Norm MacDonald has unfortunately passed after a bout with cancer. While he was ‘fighting’ it for years, he never showed it and continued to make people laugh and enjoy life. Arguably one of the funniest to ever do it, he was definitely the greatest storyteller of his lifetime and could make anything into a roaring joke.

Perhaps his greatest moment of wit and humor came in 1997 while on Conan O’Brien with Courtney Thorne-Smith who was promoting her film, “Chairman of the Board”. She starred alongside comedian Carrot Top and while the entire interview, Norm has some great lines, the best part is at the end. Rewatch the classic moment below.

“(Original airdate: 05/15/97) Courtney Thorne-Smith and Norm Macdonald talk about her leaving “Melrose Place” and working with Carrot Top on “Chairman of the Board.”

Within seconds of Courtney Thorn-Smith saying the title and Conan telling him, “There ya go, do something with that, you freak,” Norm had one of the wittiest and hilarious comebacks ever.

This is only a moment of his greatness, and he would continue to entertain and break guts well outside of his SNL days. His famed Moth joke is currently circulating again and his delivery and timing are uncanny.

There will never be another Norm MacDonald, and while he’s gone, he will live forever in these clips and his podcast.

Fans commented on the clip, “This is, and always shall be, the greatest clip of any talk show ever.”, “RIP Norm, what a fitting clip. It reminds me of that tragedy”, “Its impressive that Norm single handedly made this the funniest 7 minutes in talk show history all without being either the host or the guest being interviewed.”, and “No one made Conan laugh like Norm did. He’ll be dearly missed.”

Rest in peace Norm. In the end, it was a draw!
