Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ spoilers finds that today is the day we’ve been waiting for! The release of Netflix’s The Witcher is here. It has already been nothing short of glorious. In episode five we encounter a djinn (genie), meet a doppler, and Geralt needs a nap! The very beginning we are introduced to Doppler in an odd way. He is naked in the mirror admiring himself and excited about his collection of human parts. He screams serial killer in every possible way. This makes him the perfect addition to the Nilfgaards as they continue their conquest and chase after Ciri.
Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’: The Djinn
At the beginning of episode five we find Geralt presumably fishing. However, we are quickly corrected. He is instead fishing for an amphora that contains a Djinn. Why would Geralt want a Djinn though? What does he possibly want so bad? Appearently, some f**cking sleep!
Our favorite bard, Jaskier, comes up to him and begins trying to catch up. We all know Geralt isn’t much for small talk, however, and Jaskier of all people should know this. Even if Geralt has shown him kindness in the past. Instead, he ends up provoking not only Geralt but the Djinn that Geralt finds. He ends up being attacked and his throat is left swollen, impeding his ability to breath.
Since Jaskier was the one holding the amphora, we assumed he was the one granted the wishes. However, since Geralt open the lid, we later find out he is the holder of the wishes. Thankfully, Geralt takes Jaskier to a nearby town and who other than Yennefer is there as the mage. Though she heals Jaskier, she awaits the Djinn to return so she may become the vessel. Even after all that talk last episode about men implying women are just vessels!
In the end, Geralt saves her from herself and they get it on! Now Geralt and Yennefer can continue their odd and misplaced relationship.
Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’: Creepy Doppler
Doppler, like a doppelganger. Get it! He is recruited by Nilfgaard to impersonate poor Mousesack, who they have captured. We all like Mousesack, he seemed like a genuine guy and truly cared for Ciri. Hell, he sacrificed himself to save her as she escaped the broken walls of Cintra. However, this has come full circle. He may have let her escape for the time being, but being captured has only made things worse for Ciri at the moment.
With Doppler now impersonating Mousesack after slowly and painfully stabbing him, we have a wolf in the henhouse. Last we saw in episode 5, “Mousesack” had entered the woods and confronted Ciri. She believes herself to be in safe hands, but we all know the inevitability of the situation at hand. Rest in peace Mousesack. You had the best nature, and greatest name ever.
Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’: Episode Five
While this episode didn’t live up to the others have for me, I still rather enjoyed it! If nothing else but to see Henry Cavill continue his impeccable role as Geralt. Overall, it did seem to slow a bit down, we didn’t have the same amazing sword battles as we’ve had regularly and instead ended up with Ciri following Doppler away from safety. Next, we’ll get to episode six, nearing the ending of the first season. We don’t want it to end so quickly! Here’s to season two!
