Netflix’s ‘Mank’ looks to be a beautiful throwback from the mind of David Fincher and one of the all-time greats, Gary Oldman. Watching the teaser, you are immediately thrown back into the 1930s, and everything from the look, style, and transitions are something out of that decade.

The film follows alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Oldman) as he tries to finish the screenplay for the eventual legendary film ‘Citizen Kane’. Watch the teaser now that was uploaded with the following description,

“1930s Hollywood is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane. Starring Academy Award Winner Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Pelphrey, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tuppence Middleton, Tom Burke, and Charles Dance. MANK is directed by David Fincher. In Select Theaters November and on Netflix on December 4.”

I am a sucker for these types of films, and I love that Fincher is recreating something like this in the modern age. This is just a teaser, but already from the cinematography, this looks like something that could be Oscar material, and we haven’t even watch Gary Oldman’s performance yet!

Viewers share my excitement, “David Fincher, Gary Oldman and Trent Reznor. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen.”, “This film was shot with RED’s Monochrome Monstro sensor camera. No color version exists of this film.”, “David Fincher will win Oscar next year.” and “The one and only David Fincher is finally back. He is definitely coming for that Oscar.”.
