She just wants her life back, ok? Netflix has previews their new doc, “Britney vs. Spears,” this week, while also revealing audio of the singer leaving a message for a lawyer in January 2009 – 12 months after she was placed under the complex legal arrangement.
The chart topper can be heard saying: “Hi, my name is Britney Spears. I called you earlier. I’m calling again because I just wanted to make sure that during the process of eliminating the conservatorship…”

“It’s been 13 years and it’s enough,” Spears’ voice can also be heard saying in the teaser. The teaser features voiceovers from interviews in which people discuss the 39-year-old’s struggles and family issues. “Britney’s never had one person she could trust. Not Mom. Not Dad,” one person said in the trailer. Another added, “Britney had a fear that her family would barge in and take everything.”
The doc will also feature other players who know the pop star’s problems, including one person “very close to the conservatorship” who “leaked” a “confidential report.”
Meanwhile, Britney’s father Jamie Spears has filed a repetition to be removed from the singer’s conservatorship. He cited his daughter’s pleas at two separate court hearings over the summer in his request to terminate the 13-year conservatorship.
“Recent events related to this conservatorship have called into question whether circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist,” the filing states.
“Ms. Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship. She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where and how often to get therapy. She wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight. She wants to be able to get married and have a baby, if she so chooses. In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding,” the petition continues.
